With the start of the 2023/2024 academic year, the SIKO program "Education with a Future" also started. As part of the initiative, the company gives 11th grade students the opportunity to develop their knowledge and abilities in the field of international forwarding and transport.
The first edition of "Education with a future" SIKO is conducting together with the V SU "P.R. Slaveykov" in Pernik and the project "Support for the dual education system", which the school is implementing jointly with the Ministry of Education and Science (MES). The main goal of the project is to support the scope of the dual education system, with a view to increasing the quality of professional education in Bulgaria and strengthening its connection with the needs of the labor market. The basis of the project is also support from the active specialists in every professional field, with which SIKO as a company is involved in its implementation. SIKO employees will act as mentors for the eleventh graders and help them reward their freight forwarding training by showing the students what it's like to work as a freight forwarder.
Within the framework of the "Education with a future" program, two students from V SU "P.R. Slaveykov" from the vocational training class "Shipper-Logistics" will spend every Monday and Tuesday during the academic year for 7 working hours at the SIKO office, where they will be able to apply the acquired knowledge from their education and gain invaluable practical experience in the field of forwarding.
As part of "Education with a Future", students will be able to get up close and personal with the basic principles and good practices of work, as well as develop their own abilities as forwarder-logistics specialists. After the initial stage of introduction to the profession and the daily duties and responsibilities of freight forwarders, students will have the opportunity to actively participate in the actual performance of the position.
The program has a duration of 2 years and covers the current and next school years, and at the end of the period the students from V SU "P.R. Slaveykov" will be able to start an internship at SIKO, which will give them the opportunity for professional development in a from the companies with values and responsibilities towards the transport and logistics market in our country.
